Muscat: Researchers from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries have successfully experimented with the cultivation of quinoa crop in the areas such as Barka, Suhar and Al Khamil.
A statement from the ministry said that the successful experiment confirms the ability of the crop to adapt to different environment and climatic conditions.
Quinoa is gluten-free, high in protein and one of the few plant foods that contain all nine essential amino acids.
It is also high in fiber, magnesium, B vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E and various beneficial antioxidants.
